ROME -- Two years after Italo journo Roberto Saviano's bestseller "Gomorra" was adapted by helmer Matteo Garrone into a hit anti-Mafia pic, another Saviano tome is headed for the bigscreen.
"Tatanka scatenato" (Raging Tatanka) is author's tale of boxing champ Clemente Russo, who grew up in the Neapolitan mob heartland, where boxing is an alternative to a life of crime. Russo will star as himself.
Giuseppe Gagliardi, whose mockumentary "The True Legend of Tony Vilar" unspooled at the Rome and Tribeca fests in 2007, will helm.
Tatanka" is being produced by Rome's Minerva Prods., headed by Gianluca Curti, in collaboration with Margherita Film.
Pic is skedded to start shooting early next year in Italy and Berlin.
